Where it began

A Gateway to the World of Fine Wine

On 10 February 1992, Victor Papadopoulos laid the first stone in what would become a remarkable family journey by establishing Pavic General Trading Limited in Limassol.

A Cypriot born in the Congo, Victor had spent many years in France, where he developed a lifelong passion for fine wine and gastronomy. Returning to Cyprus, he recognised a growing appreciation for high-quality imported wines and began forming direct, enduring relationships with respected producers.

As the company developed and specialised in wine, it later adopted the trade name La Maison du Vin—“The House of Wine”—a name that continues to express its purpose today: a specialist destination for clients seeking provenance, expertise and wines of genuine character.

More than three decades later, the company remains proudly independent and family-run. La Maison du Vin is now one of Cyprus’s leading fine-wine importers and distributors, serving private clients, five-star hotels, selected restaurants and wine professionals from its Limassol boutique and purpose-designed cellar.

10 Feb 1992Victor establishes Pavic General Trading Limited in Limassol, beginning the journey that later adopts the trade name La Maison du Vin.

2004Victor receives France’s Ordre du Mérite Agricole.

2009Honoured by the Italian Republic.

Victor Papadopoulos

Victor established Pavic General Trading Limited in 1992. As the business specialised in wine, it later adopted the trade name La Maison du Vin and grew through his deep knowledge, close producer relationships and enduring commitment to Cyprus’s gastronomic culture.

His contribution to wine, gastronomy and cultural relations has been recognised internationally.

Petros Fraefel

Petros joined La Maison du Vin in 2010 and plays a central role in the company’s continued development while preserving the standards and personal service established by its founder.

He oversees commercial and operational activities, financial performance, digital development and customer experience, working closely with private clients, hospitality professionals and business partners throughout Cyprus.

His focus is the thoughtful evolution of the company: strengthening its exclusive portfolio, improving its services and systems, and carrying the family legacy confidently into its next chapter.

Here we store exclusive, rare and fine wines from some of the world’s greatest producers. From celebrated vintages to limited allocations and bottles intended for long-term ageing, every wine is handled with the attention its provenance deserves.

The cellar reflects the standards that have guided our company since 1992: authenticity, professional storage and respect for every bottle entrusted to us.

ISO 9001:2015 Certified

In September 2023, La Maison du Vin was certified by TÜV AUSTRIA in accordance with the ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System standard.

The certification covers the import, storage and trading of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages; nuts, chocolates and other dry-storage foods; and the import and trading of cellar equipment and wine accessories.

Our modern, purpose-designed cellar supports the professional storage and careful handling of every bottle entrusted to us.
