La Maison du Vin was established in Limassol in 1992 by Victor Papadopoulos, a Cypriot born in the Congo. Having spent many years in France, Victor developed a deep passion for fine wine and a sophisticated understanding of wine culture.
Upon returning to Cyprus, Victor recognised a growing demand for high-quality imported wines. He established direct relationships with some of the world’s leading wine producers and opened La Maison du Vin in Limassol, creating a gateway to premium international wines for the Cyprus market.
More than three decades later, La Maison du Vin remains a second-generation family business and one of Cyprus’s longest-established specialist wine importers and distributors. Today, the company represents more than 55 exclusive producers and supplies premium wines, Champagne and spirits to private clients, five-star hotels, selected restaurants and wine professionals throughout Cyprus. Customers can visit our specialist wine boutique in Limassol or order through our online wine shop for delivery across the island.
Victor Papadopoulos, founder and owner of La Maison du Vin, has received several prestigious international distinctions in recognition of his contribution to wine, gastronomy and cultural relations. In 2004, the French government appointed him Officier de l’Ordre du Mérite Agricole. In 2009, he was honoured by the Italian Republic with the title Cavaliere dell’Ordine al Merito della Repubblica Italiana. In 2011, he received another distinguished French honour through his appointment to the Ordre National du Mérite. Victor also serves as President for Cyprus of La Confrérie de la Chaîne des Rôtisseurs, an international gastronomic association whose historical origins date back to 1248. He is also a Chevalier of the prestigious Confrérie des Chevaliers du Tastevin, dedicated to promoting the wines, traditions and gastronomy of Burgundy.
Petros Fraefel joined La Maison du Vin in 2010 and today serves as a Director of the company. As a member of the second generation of the family business, he plays a central role in its continued development while preserving the values and personal service established by its founder. Petros oversees the company’s commercial and operational activities, financial performance, digital development and customer experience. He works closely with the Board of Directors to implement company strategy, identify new opportunities and continuously improve La Maison du Vin’s services, systems and facilities. With a hands-on approach, Petros remains closely involved with private clients, hospitality professionals and business partners throughout Cyprus. His focus is to strengthen the company’s exclusive portfolio, maintain the highest standards of service and ensure that La Maison du Vin continues to evolve as one of Cyprus’s most established specialist wine importers and distributors.
