The Hepp Distillery is located in Val-de-Moder, Alsace. The Hepp family perpetuates its savoir-faire in eaux-de-vie which began by distilling the fruits of their orchard for the inhabitants of Uberach until 1972.

The cultivation of Mirabelle is very important in Alsace with the IGP (Protected Geographical Indication) for Eaux-de-vie.
The use of Alsace Mirabelle is a guarantee of quality because IGP Eau-de-vie follows strict specifications. The IGP implies in particular that the Mirabelles are harvested and distilled in Alsace and that the alcohol content is 45% vol. minimum.
The distillation of Mirabelle dates back to the 18th century in Alsace. However, it was only in the 19th century that the production of eaux-de-vie went beyond the stage of episodic production and that Mirabelle eau-de-vie became a real commercial commodity.
