Flavour Ginger and waxy orange peel. Earthy peat with a another hint of Sherry sweetness buried underneath. The Finish, Sea salt and heather once again. A few herbaceous hints of coriander leaf and crushed black pepper. |
10 year old single malt Scotch whisky from the Highland Park distillery on Orkney, presented in the heavily-Viking-inspired livery that was launched in 2017. This expression is normally found on mainland Europe, but it seems that some bottles have landed on our shores (presumably on some sort of longboat, considering all the Viking imagery connected to it).

Highland Park Viking Scars is left to age for 10 years in ex-sherry casks, during which the aromas and spices blend perfectly with the finest Scottish peat.
It is an excellent whisky to understand the style of the north of Scotland. It is made from a mix of casks used by the distillery, while its colour is natural without the addition of colouring agents. Citrusy and sweet, with hints of custard and delicate peat only at the end of the tasting.
To be enjoyed neat or on the rocks, it is a perfect whisky for an introduction to the world of Orkney: simple, savoury and drinkable.
