Description
Grape: Riesling
The very steep and volcanic grand cru of Rangen is one of the very greatest of Alsace Grand Crus, famous for intense and flinty Pinot Gris, Riesling and Gewurztraminer. It overlooks the town of Thann, and its church, La Collégiale Saint-Thiébaut, which gives its name to Schoffit’s Clos Saint Théobald plot within the Rangen Grand Cru.
The Riesling Grand Cru Rangen has slightly exotic character, with a key ash. A high saline “must” because the vineyards are located on a tectonic fracture fied.
Unlike the other Rangen of the Schoffit estate, this Riesling is a dry wine with about 5 g of residual sugar.
