Description
Grape: 53% Merlot, 46% Cabernet Franc, 1% Cabernet Sauvignon.
Winemaking:
Cheval Blanc usually ages its wine for around 16 to 18 months in French oak barrels, with approximately 50–70% new oak, depending on the vintage characteristics.
The 2022 vintage is composed primarily of Merlot and Cabernet Franc, with a small proportion of Cabernet Sauvignon, cultivated on the iconic gravel and clay soils of Cheval Blanc. A warm, dry growing season led to small, concentrated berries with exceptional aromatic precision and ripe, polished tannins. Vinified in temperature-controlled vats with parcel-by-parcel precision, the wine was then aged in French oak barrels (some new, some used) to preserve purity and structure.
