On the eastern side of Mount Vermio, the mountain fades into small hills and sunlit fields, where viticulture takes centre stage. Xinomavro is the red grape variety best known by local growers in the wider Naoussa region, while the once “overlooked” Preknadi, named after the tiny brown freckles found on the grape’s skin, is the white variety now cultivated on a limited scale.
Its accessible price also makes it even more appealing.
