New Zealand Wines: Freshness, Purity & Character

Discover four distinctive wines from Matua and Clos Henri—two remarkable interpretations each of Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir.

A cool-climate wine destination

New Zealand may be one of the world’s younger fine-wine countries, yet Marlborough has created a style recognised everywhere: brilliantly fresh Sauvignon Blanc and beautifully aromatic Pinot Noir.

Long sunshine hours, cool nights and free-draining soils help the grapes retain their natural freshness while developing vivid aromas. The result is wine that feels bright, expressive and wonderfully easy to enjoy—especially in the Cyprus climate.

A New Zealand pioneer

Matua

Matua helped shape the modern story of New Zealand wine by producing the country’s first Sauvignon Blanc in 1974. Today, the winery’s Marlborough wines remain true to that pioneering spirit: fresh, fruit-forward and immediately enjoyable.

The two wines below offer an accessible introduction to Marlborough—one crisp and tropical, the other juicy, softly spiced and smooth.

Clos Henri estate and vineyard in Marlborough New Zealand

From Sancerre to Marlborough

Clos Henri

Clos Henri was established in Marlborough in 2000 by the Bourgeois family of Sancerre, bringing generations of experience with Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir to New Zealand’s Wairau Valley.

The estate is fully certified organic and works with distinct glacial-stone and clay soils. Its wines are more textural and terroir-focused, combining Marlborough’s vivid fruit with a refined, mineral style inspired by the family’s French heritage.
