Grape: 54% Merlot and 45% Cabernet Franc 1% Cabernet Sauvignon
Cheval Blanc obtained the highest possible distinction in the first classification of Saint-Emilion wines in 1954: Premier Grand Cru Classé “A”. This exalted rank was confirmed in every following classification in each subsequent decade.
Winemaking
Maceration lasted from 19 to 26 days depending on the lot.
2006 Cheval Blanc was not at all chaptalised. Approximately 8% of the juice was bled off, and the wine was aged in 100% new oak barrels for 16-17 months.
