BATARD-MONTRACHET GRAND CRU 2022, LOUIS JADOT

SKU 001014256
Group 17

Bâtard-Montrachet is a great white Grand Cru in Burgundy’s Côte D’or. Its vineyards are located onthe slope beneath Le Montrachet, in the Côte de Beaune. Bâtard-Montrachet’s soils are heavier than those surrounding it, made up of brown limestone and gravel, which pave the way for rich, nutty, honeyed and heady wines with good structure. They are not as elegant as those from Chevalier-Montrachet and are broader and weightier than wines from Montrachet.

Description

Grape: 100%  Chardonnay

Bâtard-Montrachet is located at the point where villages of Puligny Montrachet and Chassagne Montrachet converge. It borders the Bienvenues Bâtard Montrachet vineyard and is right below the Montrachet’s one.
It is exposed to the sun from the east, and sits on a terroir composed of chalky soil. It is also the largest of the five Grands Crus.

Winemaking :

The Chardonnay grapes are harvested by hand and placed in small cases to protect the fruit.
After gentle pressing, fermentation takes place in oak barrels produced by Louis Jadot’s own cooperage. Approximately one-third of the barrels are new.

The wine matures for approximately 15 months on its fine lees before preparation for bottling.
Louis Jadot stirs its Grand Cru white wines twice after fermentation, once during summer and once during autumn, contributing texture and complexity while preserving balance and freshness.

Serve at approximately 12–14°C in a large Zalto glass.

When enjoyed young, opening the bottle approximately one hour before serving may help reveal its aromatic detail and texture. Avoid serving it excessively cold, as this will conceal its complexity.
