Description
Grape: 100% Pinot Noir
Winemaking:
The grapes for Clos Vougeot are hand-picked from old vines planted within the historic Clos, a Grand Cru vineyard enclosed by stone walls since the 12th century. Traditional fermentation is carried out in open wooden vats, followed by ageing in oak barrels—of which approximately one-third are new—for 18 to 20 months. Louis Jadot’s focus is on preserving the purity and character of the fruit, while allowing the terroir to express itself fully.
Food and Wine Pairing Suggestions
Clos Vougeot pairs beautifully with classic French cuisine and refined meat dishes. Ideal with:
- Roast duck with cherry glaze
- Rack of lamb with rosemary
- Beef Wellington
- Wild mushroom risotto
- Mature cheeses such as Comté or aged Brie
This wine also deserves time and space at the table, making it an excellent choice for special occasions and slow, contemplative meals.
