The Penfolds RWT Bin 798 Shiraz 2021 is one of Penfolds’ most distinguished expressions of Barossa Valley Shiraz. Originally known as the “Red Winemaking Trial”, RWT was created to showcase the aromatic qualities, plush texture and fine tannins of Barossa Shiraz, offering a more refined and elegantly expressive style compared with the more muscular character of Grange.
The 2021 vintage displays impressive concentration, precision and balance. Its deep purple colour leads to lifted aromas of blueberry, mulberry, raspberry, red currant, floral notes, cola, liquorice and savoury green olive. On the palate, generous dark fruit is complemented by crème brûlée, praline, hazelnut, coffee, bitter chocolate and finely polished tannins.
Matured for 14 months in French oak hogsheads 80% new and 20% one-year-old the wine combines richness and power with freshness and elegance. Presented in a refined gift box, it is an excellent choice for collectors, important celebrations and premium corporate gifting.
Ideal with:
Serve at approximately 16–18°C. Decanting for 1–2 hours is recommended when enjoying the wine young.
