Saint-Joseph « Lieu-dit » is produced from the « Saint-Joseph » registered vines which originally lent their name to the appellation. This powerful and spicy wine has a lovely freshness on the palate which brings elegance and balance.
The treasures are born in the very heart of the most legendary of the illustrious plots of the Maison Guigal. These precious bottles are as coveted as they are rare and have benefited from extreme care at every stage of the process, from the vine to the cellars. Soil type: Steep sloped vineyards. Gneiss with granite streaks
This wine is a unique expression of the excellence of the lieu-dit « Saint-Joseph » appellation and these vineyards are from amongst the very best of this up-and-coming appellation in the northern Côtes-du-Rhône. These very slopes lent their name to the Saint-Joseph appellation when it was created. The label was designed by Roger PFUND, a Franco-Swiss artist who is a specialist in the design of bank notes.
A veritable success. Fresh and powerful. Will become more refined with age.
Winemaking
Temperature controlled alcoholic fermentation up to 33°C.
Ageing: 50% new oak barrels. 50% barrels of one wine.
