Description
Grape: 100% Chardonnay
WINEMAKING
Gaia & Rey is aged in oak for approximately 6–8 months. The oak contributes texture and complexity while allowing the wine’s fruit, freshness and mineral character to remain at the centre.
VINTAGE CHARACTER
The 2024 vintage presents a refined and precise expression of Gaia & Rey, marked by citrus and stone-fruit flavours, mineral freshness and a long, dry finish
Gaia & Rey is Gaja’s flagship white wine and one of Italy’s most distinguished Chardonnay expressions. Produced in Piedmont from 100% Chardonnay, it takes its name from Gaia, Angelo Gaja’s eldest daughter, and Clotilde Rey, his grandmother.
The wine originates partly from the historic Gaia & Rey vineyard in Treiso, planted in 1979 at approximately 460 metres above sea level. Additional grapes are sourced from a vineyard in Serralunga, contributing further depth and complexity to the wine.
The 2024 vintage opens with elegant aromas of lemon zest and white peach, followed by delicate white flowers and subtle chalky, mineral nuances. On the palate, it is refined rather than opulent, combining bright citrus freshness with a rounded, textured structure. The oak is integrated as texture rather than dominating the wine, while vibrant acidity leads to a long, dry and mineral finish.
Gaia & Rey is an exceptional white wine for collectors, fine-dining occasions and discerning wine lovers. Its balance of richness, precision, freshness and length allows it to be enjoyed today with careful aeration, while also offering excellent potential for further development in the cellar.
La Maison du Vin proudly offers Gaia & Rey Gaja in Cyprus, available online and at our boutique in Limassol, subject to limited annual allocation.
